Admission Procedure
(a) For Cotton Graduates
Candidates who graduated from Cotton University in 2024 or 2025 can secure admission through the following methods:
- CGPA-Based Admission: For subjects requiring Honours in the concerned subject, Cotton graduates can be admitted based on their bachelor’s degree CGPA. The minimum CGPA required is 5.5 (5.3 for OBC/MOBC, 5.0 for SC/ST candidates).
- Entrance-Based Admission: For courses where eligibility does not specify Honours/Major in the concerned subject, admissions will be based on CPGEE 2025 scores. These courses include:
- MA in Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archaeology
- Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
- M.Sc in Environmental Biology & Wildlife Sciences
The standard reservation policy of the Government of Assam for OBC/MOBC/ST(P)/ST(H)/SC/EWS/PWD candidates will apply.
(b) For Open Category Seats
- For the remaining 50% of seats in the above courses and 100% of seats in programs like Master in Library Science, LLM, M.Com, and MA in Bodo, admission will be based on performance in the Cotton University Postgraduate Entrance Test (CPGEE).
- The same reservation policy applies to open category seats.
CPGEE 2025 & Merit List
The CPGEE 2025 is expected to be held by the last week of June 2025. It is an OMR-based exam where candidates must answer 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in 90 minutes. Each correct answer earns 4 marks, with a 1-mark deduction for incorrect answers. The question papers are based on Cotton University’s undergraduate syllabus for the corresponding course. For programs not offered at the UG level, questions follow standard syllabuses of reputed UGC-recognized universities.
CPGEE: Exam Pattern
- Conducted offline via OMR-based paper.
- Consists of 50 MCQs to be solved in 90 minutes.
- Scoring: +4 marks for correct answers, -1 mark for incorrect answers.
- Questions are based on Cotton University’s UG syllabus or standard syllabuses of reputed UGC universities for programs not offered at the UG level.
