IGNOU B.Ed Admission 2026: Notification, Eligibility, Fee & Important Dates

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has officially released the Admission Announcement for the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme – January 2026 Session. Admission will be done through an Entrance Test to be conducted across India.

🔹 Examination Fee

The Entrance Examination Fee is Rs. 1000/-.

The fee must be paid online through the payment gateway using:

• Credit Card

• Debit Card

• Net Banking (Indian banks only)

🔹 Important Dates (IGNOU B.Ed 2026)

• Availability of Information Bulletin: 29 January 2026

• Online Application Submission Starts: 29 January 2026

• Last Date of Online Registration: 27 February 2026

• Duration of Entrance Exam: 2 Hours

🔹 Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU B.Ed Programme

Candidates must have:

• At least 50% marks in Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree in:

• Sciences

• Social Sciences

• Commerce

• Humanities

OR

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or equivalent qualification.

🔹 Additional Eligibility Conditions (ODL Mode)

The following categories are eligible:

i) Trained in-service teachers in elementary education
ii) Candidates who have completed an NCTE-recognized teacher education programme through face-to-face mode

🔹 Reservation & Relaxation

• 5% relaxation in minimum eligibility marks is provided to:
  
  

• SC

• ST

• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)

• PwD candidates

• EWS reservation will be applicable as per Central Government rules
  
  

• Reservation for Kashmiri Migrants and War Widows will be provided as per University rules

🔹 Age Limit

There is no age bar for admission to the IGNOU B.Ed Programme.

🔹 Admission Criteria

Admission to the B.Ed Programme is merit-based.
A Nodal Regional Centre-wise merit list will be prepared after the Entrance Test.

🔹 Important Instruction

Use of Mobile Phones or Electronic Devices is strictly prohibited inside the examination centre.
Candidates found possessing or using such devices will face penal action.
